Of course, it is important to have healthy hair. However, most men neglect their hair, which can cause many problems in the future, including premature balding. Just like your car, your home, and even your muscles, regular maintenance is required to keep it looking it's great.
Use Great Shampoo and Conditioner
This is a common sense tip, however, most men simply shampoo and that's all. A conditioner is very important for your hair's health. You also don't want to cheap out on either of these products, often times, the more expensive it is, the better it will be for your hair.
Most of our customers that come into the shop with dry, damaged hair either use cheap shampoo and conditioner, use only shampoo, or use neither. So, for quick repair on a budget, we always recommend this El Patron "Be The Boss" Aloe Vera and Eucalyptus shampoo coupled with their "Be The Boss" Hydrating conditioner.
Shampoo Less Often
Seems weird right? Well, it is important to not over shampoo. Rather it is cheap or expensive, shampoo does a great job at stripping away dirt and grime, but it also strips away your hair's natural oil. This is bad because it will leave your hair dry and brittle. You should only shampoo 1-2 times per week. For the other days, simply rinse your hair with water and use conditioner. In fact, most men have it backward, they need to be conditioning daily, not shampooing daily.
You may simply hop out the shower and scrub your hair dry with a towel. Unfortunately, that is the leading thing to bad hair. When you rub your towel across your hair, you are tangling your hair and also stretching it to its breaking point. This will damage your cuticles, cause frizziness, and create split-ends.
Instead, you should pat dry your hair. May not seem effective, but you'll be thankful when you get older and still have a nice head full of hair. After a few haircuts, you'll notice a tremendous difference in your hair after practicing this method.
I hope you take these tips and apply them immediately. It's never too late to take care of your hair. In fact, hair it is cheaper to keep your hair healthy than not to.
